This book is definitely a page-turner because it's so sexy, and the fashion references and name-dropping are delicious. Sykes is a breath of fresh air in the chick-lit genre. BUT: there are two things I didn't like about this almost perfect book. 1.) There were simply TOO many coincedences, especially when it comes to the main character's main man. And 2.) I think it's a little passe for the main character to be so desperate when it comes to men. She has all these fabulous friends, and amazing clothes, and every girl's dream job to boot, but she needily strings herself along from inappropraite guy to inappropriate guy. She's like a 1950s housewife but with an NY apartment that is just 'beyond,' a glam career, and a wardrobe that is tres chic. While I couldn't put the book down, I wish Sykes had created a character with a little more backbone and a little less Bergdorf. Also recommended: Naked, The Time Traveler's Wife, Hell's Angels, East of Eden, A Moveable Feast, Prep, The Glass... See less
